Instant Team Spring 2006 Edition
News
This new version brings these important improvements:
Resource database independent of users
It is no longer true that each project resource has to be an Instant Team user as well. It is therefore much simpler to include work of external staff, customer employees etc. in the project. On the other hand, it is easier to provide Istant Team access to users that won't take part in the projects and should thus not appear in the resource list.
More flexible task hierarchy
Task groups, known as Phases in the former versions, are now ordinary tasks. It means that they can be scheduled, linked to successors etc. It is no longer important to what detail you break down the project. You don't have to worry that inclusion of too much detail will render the project unmanagable because you can for example schedule the group tasks only. At the same time, planning the project in iterations is easier as well. You can plan the highest level first, then go on to the next level etc. And if you find out during the course of the project that some task should be broken down into more detail, assigned to several resources etc., nothing would be easier.
128-bit communication and password encryption
All communication with the Instant Team server is now protected by an industry standard 128-bit encryption and password communication and storage is based on a standard SHA1 digest.English template and user's guide
Project management template is now bilingual and we have also completed the English version of the user's guide.Time zone and language combination
It is now possible to combine more time zones and languages without problems. Each user has a time zone setting that is used when calculating and displaying information for her/him. User's time zone is detected automatically during login and would therefore be correct even when a user connects from a different computer from another part of the world. Language combination in one Instant Team instance is now also correctly dealt with.
